Astrology isn’t just found in the back of women’s magazines or next to the comics in your newspaper, it’s everywhere and it has the ability to change your life if you only know how to read it properly. Imagine being taught to understand astrology by, say, a spiritual leader.
“Leader is a big word; I think I make people think,” says LA-based Israeli-born Gahl Sasson, who holds private readings as well as workshops on how to understand spirituality, which for him combines psychology, astrology and symbolism, and applying it to our lives. “[I try] to understand people’s stories and what they’re going through and how they can have a different perspective of their life.”
The way Sasson sees the world is a blend of the religious and secular. “[Combining] spirituality and practicality sounds like a contradiction but it’s not,” he affirms, because spirituality isn’t something you do, it’s something you are. Like his unique take on the world, Sasson appears to be one juxtaposition that just works. He freely admits that men who come to him, often at the behest of their partners, are surprised to find him so grounded and practical, when they expected a new-age guru surrounded by candles and flowers.
But this spiritual guide, who wouldn’t look too out of place in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, and author of ‘A Wish Can Change Your Life’, a book endorsed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, does love to garden. Without hesitation, he promptly shows off his vase of roses and sweet pea flowers.
