TREASURED HOTEL OR RESORT

RT: Amanpulo in the Philippines. The beaches in the Philippines are the best in the world and particulary on Pamalican Island, where the property is situated. It is paradise on earth!

FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION

RT: St John, which is part of the US Virgin Islands. Most of the island is a national reserve so the beaches are pristine and never crowded. It’s the ideal environment to spend the holiday with the family.

MY TRAVEL ATTIRE

RT: Cashmere T-shirts from Pickwick & Weller, a lightweight Supima cotton hoodie, chinos and a printed cashmere scarf. I’m never without a scarf.

3 THINGS TO PACK

RT: My iPhone, my Leica camera and my sketchbook. And of course all the usual paraphernalia. I can never seem to travel light after all these years.

MUST-HAVE ITEM OF THE SEASON

RT: A Rafé ‘Maryanne’ minaudière. It’s completely handcrafted using different varieties of shells and a truly special piece that you’ll carry for years. You’ll also be the envy of every woman at the party.

FAVOURITE SPA FOR SOME ‘ME’ TIME

RT: The Park Hyatt spa in Tokyo. I could easily spend the whole day there. Swim, have breakfast and then enjoy one of the treatments. And can we talk about the view?

MY SIGNATURE SCENT

RT: Aqua Universalis by Maison Francis Kurkdjian; its fresh clean scent composed of bergamot, Sicilian lemon, sweet orange and blond musky wood makes me think of summer every time I wear it.

MY BEAUTY TIP

RT: Lots of sleep, a lot of water and a good moisturiser. These days I’ve been using Aesop’s Sage & Zinc Facial Hydrating Cream.

MY TOP PLACE TO DINE

RT: An intimate sunset dinner in one of the towers at the Devi Garh in Udaipur with a view of the Delwara village on the Aravali hills. A live Jaltarang and flute recital played all throughout dinner, which makes the whole experience ethereal and unforgettable.

FOOD I CRAVE

RT: South East Asian Food – Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Filipino, Japanese and Chinese. Mention anything with a curry or soy sauce and I’m in.

THE BOOK ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE

RT:Call Me by Your Name by André Aciman. I’m a hopeless romantic; what can I say?

THE MEANING OF LUXURY

RT: A few years ago, I went on a ‘gadget detox’ for a week while on vacation in Bali. It was liberating and energising. I highly recommend it. Life goes on without your Instagram photos, Tweets or Facebook updates. Disconnecting from the virtual world is the ultimate luxury.
