TREASURED HOTEL OR RESORT

RS: Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi, Genoa, Italy. I go there every year with my family. It’s a wonderful gem of a hotel on the head of the Gulfo Paradiso overlooking Genoa and a boat trip away from Portofino.

FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION

RS: Italy by way of the Yorkshire Dales. Both landscapes are breathtaking. Seems to bookend what I love in life.

MY TRAVEL ATTIRE

RS: Usually a white Sunspel T-shirt and a pair of Italian cotton Unis New York trousers.

3 THINGS TO PACK

RS: iPad to keep me entertained, passport to get me where I need to be and an armful of magazines stuffed into my LL Bean monogram tote.

MUST-HAVE ITEM OF THE SEASON

RS: A pair of Rupert Sanderson Maytime sneakers. After much persuasion, I’ve started making them in men’s sizes.

FAVOURITE SPA FOR SOME ‘ME’ TIME

RS: I take them as I find them – I can recommend a spa at the bottom of the Georges V in Paris and the one at Coworth Park in Ascot, England.

MY SIGNATURE SCENT

RS: D R Harris’s Albany cologne – brewed not more than 100 yards from our Mayfair doorstep.

MY BEAUTY TIP

RS: For a haircut and wet shave I go to Gino in Piazza Santo Stefano in Bologna – opposite the gorgeous Santo Stefano church.

MY TOP PLACE TO DINE

RS: Le Petite Maison in Mayfair – for the best French cuisine this side of the channel. It is provincial tapas-eating in the heart of London.

FOOD I CRAVE

RS: Italian homemade pasta. The best you will get is in Tredozio where I have my factory. It’s deliciously rustic.

SOMETHING I CAN’T STOP WATCHING

RS: Old James Bond movies with my son. The last one we watched was Goldfinger.

THE BOOK ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE

RS: Ronald Blythe’s Akenfield. It’s a study of a semi-fictional community in Suffolk just after the Second World War – everybody from the bell-ringer to the squire is profiled.

SOMETHING I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT

RS: My bicycle – Condor Fratello. I recently cycled from London to Paris on it. I cycle everywhere in London, I couldn’t think of a better way to get about this great city.

THE MEANING OF LUXURY

RS: Time. From time spent to time taken. Luxury takes a long time and should do.

I recently cycled from London to Paris on it. I cycle everywhere in London, I couldn’t think of a better way to get about this great city.
