Hotel Zoo, Berlin

You won’t see animals cooped up inside their cages here at Berlin’s Hotel Zoo, but you’ll see plenty of wildly creative design details sprinkled throughout the property.

The hotel was once an iconic hangout for movie stars, dating back to its opening in 1911. Receiving big names like Sophia Loren, the hotel was the official VIP hotel to the Berlin International Film Festival. Now, while it’s become more everyday-folk friendly, it hasn’t lost its grandeur and charm. With recent renovations come a sky-high ceiling and playful design details, giving the space its whimsical charm.

A part of the Design Hotel’s collection, this stylish home away from home and its 131 rooms and 14 suites are fitted with luxurious amenities, each featuring a unique layout. Inside every room, guests will find indulgent amenities like the Maison Margiela bathrobes and a custom-designed nail lacquer by Berlin brand Uslu Airlines.

There are four dining options at the hotel, including the rooftop bar and Restaurant Grace, serving contemporary cuisine.
